Chinese Medicine is a medicine to prevent disease before it happens.

The body often sends signals and alerts us for attention through pain and discomfort, which are the body's way of communicating that changes are needed.

When we are in tune with our body and sensitive to body symptoms, dis-ease can be prevented before it happens.

When the body is taken care of, it does the work without complaining.

A practice focused on pain, based in Lane Cove at 2 Austin Street, opposite the Lane Cove Library and metres from Longueville Road, with a second location at Freshwater on the Northern Beaches.

Focusing on pain changes how appointments run. The first one is mostly assessment: where it is, what provokes it, what it stops you doing, how it has behaved over weeks rather than days, and whether it is behaving mechanically at all. Movement testing, then treatment, then a re-test, so there is something measurable to compare next time.

What a plan contains. Something done in the room. Something changed in the day — loading, positioning, or how a task is done. And a measure: distance walked, nights woken, or a specific movement. The measure is the part that decides whether to continue, and it is the part most clinics leave out.

What goes to a doctor first, without exception: pain after significant trauma, pain with fever, progressive numbness or weakness, a hot swollen joint, unexplained weight loss, night pain with no mechanical explanation, and any loss of bladder or bowel control. Persistent pain should be under a GP, and if you take pain medication your prescriber needs to be in the loop.

For widespread or long-standing pain, Australia has multidisciplinary pain services and psychological approaches to pain with real evidence. We refer to them, and that is not a suggestion that pain is imagined.
